Where to Thrift Shop in Gaston County

Thrift days are my favorite days, but sometimes I hit a wall when it comes to places to shop.

Estate sales are always on the radar but I love to backfill with thrift stores. Let’s look at thrift shopping options in Gaston County. I’ll start with the three staples and then move to some that you may not be as familiar with.

Goodwill

We have two Goodwill’s in Gastonia. While I prefer the store off Union Rd, I have found plenty of items at both.

Habitat ReStore

This is possibly the largest Habitat ReStore in our local area! They are heavy on the furniture, home goods, and building supplies like doors and sinks.

NOTE: I would check their website or call before planning your day - their hours can vary greatly!

Salvation Army Family Store

By far my favorite store in our area! I also love that they run specials such as 50% off clothes, shoes, and accessories on Wednesdays and Saturdays!

Now for some thrift stores that you may not think to visit.

Bargain Hunters

Located in Mt. Holly.

I think this is a hidden gem of a treasure hunt! Not exactly the most organized, and their pricing can be all over the price, I have found beautiful 13” ginger jars for $2.50. It is worth a trip if you are in the area!

Mystery Box

Located in Ranlo.

This is a new store with a very cool and unique concept. Basically, you pay one price to enter the store and can take whatever you can physically carry to the car.

Value Village

I rarely find things at the VV but then again I don’t go as often as I used to. Their pricing is great on books and home goods but can be high on clothing.

Second Chance Thrift

Located in Gastonia. This is a sweet ministry with a lovely store. It is small but worth a stop. They run specials as well!

Antique Malls

We have a plethora of antique malls in the county. Perfect for a rainy day of strolling and browsing. One of my favorite places is the U-Neek Boutique off Long Ave. I haven’t been in years but I loved to go and browse; there was another antique store located behind U-Neek in the same building.
