Reselling Spotlight: Selling on Chairish
There are so many platforms available for resellers that it can be a little overwhelming. I, even, don’t resell on all of them.
The platforms that we focus on are:
eBay
Etsy
Poshmark
Chairish
Chairish is a new-to-me platform and we’ve only made one sale since opening our store late last year. HOWEVER, I am fully committed to stocking the store and seeing what happens.
It is free to list on Chairish
First, it is free to list on Chairish. I greatly appreciate this even though their fee structure is high once an item sells.
It is easy to create a listing
Second, it is extremely easy to build a listing on Chairish. Their listing page is self-explanatory with loads of helpful tips to write the perfect description.
Chairish reviews every listing before it goes live
I must say, I don’t love this feature. I’ve had them reject several items for a medley of reasons. This is important to keep in mind when buying to resell as they may not approve the listing once you have it processed and ready to list.
Chairish has several options for resellers in terms of fees
While it is free to list, the commission once an item sells will vary. See the details below (as of 2023)
Chairish will handle the shipping for you for furniture and larger items
This is my favorite part of the platform. If Etsy offers this, then I haven’t found it buried anywhere in their listings page. The biggest drawback to reselling furniture is the shippping. Luckily, Chairish will coordinate payment, pickup, and delivery for you!
Chairish is a great platform for furniture and unique vintage items
I have found that you can charge more on Etsy than some of the other platforms. They have curated an email list of vintage and designer followers who are always on the hunt for antiques and unique pieces.
