What Thrifting Is Really Like
For years I blew off thrifting as a bunch of overpriced junk in a nasty store. The thought of shopping in a Goodwill seemed like a waste of time, and estate sales seemed like another world. In fact, I talked myself out of an estate sale thrift day one Saturday as I sat in the parking lot of the farmers market ready to hit my first estate sale ever. I concluded that it would be a stuffy, stinky house and terribly weird to shop someone elseβs things. It would be another two years before I got the courage to shop an estate sale, let alone learn to host them.
Now my perceived notions of thrifting might not be yours, but if that sounds similar then let me show you what thrifting is really like.

My #1 thrifting tip is ALWAYS ask if they are running promotions. Sometimes promotions are well displayed and other times they are not.
In the case of the Salvation Army, they were running a 30% discount on furniture, of which was not on display by the door.
