4 Things To Do During A Slow July in Reselling

Historically, there is always a shopping lull that happens during the summer months. In particular, June & July, with July being the slowest (in my opinion).

Sales will usually start to ramp up again when school is back in session. Reselling is no different.

As a reseller it can be a great challenge during the summer as sales dwindle while customers are on vacation.

Here are 4 things you can do during a slow summer reselling season.

Have A Sale

Many large retail establishments will host summer sales events, this is a great time to do the same.

Mark down items that have been sitting in your store for a year or more. For example, I discounted 10+ items recently and have sold 30% of them. At this point, I greatly appreciate the sales and I am sure the customer appreciates the discount.

Stock Your Store With Holiday

Now is the perfect time to photograph and list the holiday items that you’ve been sitting on. I missed the holiday shopping window last year on a few items so I encourage you to use this time to stock your store with fall, Halloween, and Christmas.

Come November, you will be glad you did!

Source New Products

If you are NOT like me and have zero inventory to list, then now is a great time to get out there and source! Head to yard sales, estate sales, thrift stores, antique malls. I have plenty of inventory sitting around to be listed, so instead of shopping, I like to use this time to get through the backstock.

Revamp Your Pictures

Scroll your listings and make a note of all the items that include subpar photos. These could be items that were hard to photograph or items that have been sitting for awhile and were photographed before you upgraded your photography β€œstudio”.

Snag them from your closet or garage and re-photograph. Update the listing and see if more buyers start to take notice!

Lastly, hang in there. It is always gets better as the fall months arrive. Press on and press forward!
