Why It Is Helpful to Know What Is Trending for Resellers
As a team, we make it a habit to discuss categories that sold well during an estate sale, along with others that did not perform.
The goal is to refine our eye for future sales and to streamline our efforts when sorting and setting up.
After our most recent estate sale, one category that stuck out as a βnon-performerβ was the milk glass. The cake stands, vases, and planters did well. The milk glass plates and cups did not.
The Christmas did fairly well considering it was February, however, the spring and Easter did amazing! Why? Because it was trending.
Our fall and Halloween selection was great, yet a total non-performer. If you sold those items in September, then you would sell out while the bunnies and lambs would be sitting there begging to go home with someone.
In terms of reselling, it is important to know what is trending so you know what to buy, when to buy it, and when to list it.
I find trendiness helpful when I am looking for home decor to sell, but it is also helpful to know trendiness when it comes to fashion, shoes, and even sporting equipment.
Rather than pass on a pair of vintage jeans, you see the potential profit and take them home instead.
When it comes to knowing what is trending and what isnβt, I follow several accounts on social media along with browsing Pinterest for current and upcoming trends.
If you pay attention, then you can spot the gold among the junk.
