The 3 Reasons To Hire A Liquidator
I can think of many reasons to work with a liquidator during a downsize, but three main reasons stand out.
One: Thoroughness & Knowledge
You want to hire a liquidator that is thorough.
Jennifer, what do you mean by that?
I mean someone who is going to dig through the boxes, the drawers, the closets, look under drawers, clean out the attic. A good liquidator will sort through an entire home well before customers arrive to shop. The reason they do this is to identify possible valuables, locate any cash that may have been stashed, and to clear the home of trash and donate.
Thoroughness is how liquidators find the treasures that lurk in attics and garages.
Knowledge is gained over time by researching thousands of items month after month.
Two: Marketing
Once a liquidator has identified valuables, then a good liquidator will begin to market them right away. Just because you unearthed a valuable doesnβt mean you stop there. A good liquidator will begin to tell the world that the item is available!
Marketing on multiple platforms is a must these days. The wider you share the message, the larger the audience.
Three: Pricing
The item has been found and marketed, now it is the liquidators duty to price it well. We tell families all of the time, βYou dont need to hire someone to give your stuff away. You can do that yourself.β
However, you do want to hire someone who knows how to find the right buyer at the right price for your valuables.
Over pricing is just as detrimental as under pricing. It may take hours to research comps for each estate sale, but that is what a good liquidator will WANT to do for their clients.
