How To Price to Resell

Reselling falls into 5 categories:

  1. Sourcing products to resell

  2. Photographing products

  3. Processing listings

  4. Storing inventory

  5. Packing and shipping orders

I imagine that most people enjoy step #1 which is sourcing products, and the rest? Well it is more of a necessary evil to making money. ;)

Let’s talk more about step #3: processing listings.

The bulk of this is writing descriptions and pulling comps to assist in pricing.

Let’s use the example of a Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer.

Writing the description is the easy part (IMO), but then it comes times to research and price.

My go-to resource for pulling comps is eBay.

I will occasionally reference other sites where applicable but my preference is eBay.

Search for your item. Scroll down and select β€œSold” on the left hand menu bar. I also recommend filtering for β€œnew” or β€œused”.

Once you have filtered for β€œSold” and condition, then you can scroll the listings to pull comparable prices for your item.

In this case, I would price my mixer around $200 - $250 for all that is included.

The last step in processing the listing is calculating shipping costs. CLICK HERE to learn more about how to calculate shipping.

One final thought, we choose to crosslist when reselling, to learn more about why we recommend listing across multiple platforms CLICK HERE.
