Furniture Flip: Buffet
When we moved from our apartment to the house, I knew we would need furniture. The first piece I bought was a large buffet; it was less than $200 from a local Habitat ReStore. How we managed to fit that thing in my SUV will still amaze me.
The functionality of this piece is amazing; it gets an A in the organizers book. It has 4 deep drawers that are flanked with 2 large cabinets.
My preference are for buffets that donβt go to the floor, but when you need more storage I trend towards pieces that work doubly hard.
Our functional buffet has been sitting in the same spot for 6 years. While I do love all that storage, I was starting to hate the color. Too much brown in the room. It felt too warm.
Originally I had planned to paint it black, but once I realized the color wouldnβt be in stock for months, I decided to just go with white.
All furniture looks good in white afterall.
Painting furniture is one of the easiest things to do! I used Fusion Mineral Paint which requires zero prep work.
I did wipe down any dust and vacuum any cobwebs, but other than that, I just laid down the drop cloth and got to painting!
The whole project took roughly 2 days. I decided to work on other projects in between coats (3 in total).
I love the transformation and it makes our room feel so much brighter (and bigger)! We are storing candles and a few extra serving pieces in the buffet at the moment. My plan is to purge our candle collection and just use it for entertaining items.
