Bought for $10 and Sold for $125
Facebook Marketplace is one of my favorite websites to sell. But rarely do I shop on it.
Like eBay. I’ve only ever sold on eBay, never bought.
Last month I ran across a listing promoting vintage items in a Facebook Marketplace Group that I‘m in. Given the nature of our business, I was intrigued so I clicked through to see what the lady was selling.
I bought three items that day:
Brass lamp $10
Vintage Santa $14
Clamshell candle holder $4
I intended to resell each item so I Venmo’d the money and scheduled to pick up the wares while we were in Belmont later that week.
As I came carrying the brass lamp to the car, Raymond and Lauren gave me a questionable look. The lamp wasn’t my personal style either but that didn’t matter to me.
Once home, I staged the lamp in our parlor knowing the navy walls would make the lamp pop.
It was listed on August 28th and sold on September 1st with a profit margin of 1,250%.
As you can see from the photo above, I sold the clamshell candleholder for $52.00 and the Santa was listed today! I may have overpaid for the Santa, but I still intend to make a healthy profit margin nonetheless.
