Style a Spring Table
I was on my way home from an early morning appointment and decided to make a detour to the thrift shop. Browsing only, stopping to buy something only if I needed it or if I could resell it.
The store was humming that day with customers and carts were overflowing with thrifted treasures.
My mind must have been focused on styling a spring table because I saw one cute thing after another. We had no need for cute spring things as we werenβt planning to host an Easter brunch or anything of the sort yet I was nonetheless inspired and started snapping pictures for this blog post.
Tip #1: If you like it, put it in your cart
Itβs best not to hem and haw, as you can do this later. Make it your rule that if it catches your eye then you will put it in your cart for safe keeping. Sift through your cart later, putting back what doesnβt make the cut.
I recommend this because as I was snapping pictures of cute spring items, someone was on my heels to put it in their cart. Save yourself the agony and put it in the cart right away because it might not be there if and when you go back to retrieve.
Once youβve made your rounds of the shelves and gathered anything that caught your eye, take a moment and look at the color story.
Tip #2: Decide on your color story
It could be heavy on blue or pastels or bright pinks. Usually a theme emerges organically so put back the outliers.
In the case of my shopping trip, pastels were the theme of the day so I could have put back anything too rich in color like emerald green, red, browns, or blacks.
Now that you have your color story, fill in the gaps with white.
Tip #3: Compliment with white dishware
I love white dishware because it goes with anything. Spring, fall, christmas, birthday. Even everyday.
I love how clean it looks on a table and how it can compliment almost any color story. Thereβs always an abundance of white dishware at the thrift store, so fill in your gaps with ease.
TIP: mixing and matching brands is very easy to accomplish with white as well!
Lastly, dress it up with some crystal or cut glass.
Tip #4: Add sparkle and shine with glass
Another category that is always in abundance is glass. I find that it doesnβt lend itself to the clean look and lines like white but it can add a touch of feminine sparkle to any table. Look for servers, cake stands, candlesticks, and more!
Now I am inspired to go thrifting - whoβs with me! :)
