Here’s the Truth About Fast Estate Sales
If you are contemplating an estate sale, or tag sale, you might find yourself in a few different scenarios.
Scenario #1: you are planning to move in the next 6 months or less
Scenario #2: someone has passed away and you would like to put their house on the market sooner rather than later
Scenario #3: you have a contract on the home and need it cleaned out asap
The truth about scenario #3 that most liquidators won’t tell you is…..
Fast estate sales aren’t successful
Let me define “successful”: To liquidate as many items as possible at market value or close to market value
Market value is the price an item would sell for on an open market like eBay or Etsy for the highest possible value considering condition.
If you want to sell most of your personal items for the highest possible value, then you will need more than a week to do so.
In fact, I recommend three or more weeks.
The longer you have to market and sell your items, the more successful your estate sale will be.
Hire a liquidator that will sell your items both online and in-person.
There are plenty of liquidators that will sell you a fast estate sale, but be prepared to have your items heavily discounted and minimally marketed.
The key to success is knowing what you have, marketing it effectively, selling early and online, and pricing thoroughly.
