Reselling Story: Vintage Leviβs Jacket
Late last fall I stopped by a local church sale on the home from a workout class. I didnβt have much time but I did want to browse their selections. The prices were very reasonable and the merchandise was well organized.
I picked up a few pieces for myself and decided to browse the clothes before heading out. While most of it was everyday pieces, two jackets caught my eye. One was a vintage Patagonia fleece jacket in very mediocre condition. The other was an acid-wash jean jacket lined in buffalo check flannel by Levis.
A quick eBay search on my phone turned up a few listings that would make these worth the effort. So I headed to the checkout table to pay for my wares.
I paid $2.00 for each jacket.
In order to achieve my goal of 1,000% profit for each one, I would need to sell them for $20.
Funny enough the Patagonia jacket sold within minutes for $75 on Poshmark. MINUTES!
Which means I probably had it priced too low but I was so pleased with the profit margin that I didnβt really care.
The Leviβs jacket took 10 months to sell which can be common for seasonal items. Thereβs not a lot of interest in a jacket during the summer months.
However, the jacket finally sold on eBay for $50. I donβt mind sitting on inventory when I know the profit margin is healthy and the likelihood of selling is high.
Yard sales are some of the best places to find unique items at a great deal. My preference is to shop estate sales and thrift stores, but never count out a good church yard sale. ;)
Is my Pyrex worth anything?
