When Setting Up An Estate Sale, We Do This When We Find Family Photos
One of the greatest hurdles for any family to jump when hiring a company to host their estate sale is trust.
Do I trust that this person/company will take good care of the home, find the right buyers for the items, and be honest with me should they find personal items?
Those questions lie at the heart of a decision to outsource an estate sale to a third party.
The ripple effect of these questions comes down to the desire to go through everything in the home BEFORE the company arrives. This is good due diligence on the part of the client, but sometimes it is more work than a family realizes.
It goes from good intention to burden.
So this is what we do when we find family photos and other personal items when sorting and setting up for an estate sale.
We gather them all together and put them in a closet or room. Then we contact the family to inform them of the items found so they can retrieve at their earliest convenience.
It isnβt rocket science but it is our way of saying βweβve got your back in this. we know this isnβt easy and we are here to make it as stress free as possible.β
We take this one step further and ask them for a list of things that they may be looking for just havenβt yet located.
Momβs wedding veil?
A special photo?
Grandpawβs high school yearbook?
We keep the list handy and refer to it during the first few weeks of setup.
There is nothing more fun than finding an item the family has been searching for and calling them with the good news!
